The Annual Delhi Bridge Run took place on June 1st, 2024 with a great turn out and beautiful weather. The annual event brings the county together to enjoy time with the community and to raise funds to support graduating seniors and a charity or organization of their choice. Usually two graduating seniors receive scholarships but due to an overwhelming amount of great scholarship essays, a third recipient received a partial scholarship this year.
Allene Vesterfelt wrote an essay about how helping a neighbor-in-need exposed the fantastic work of Delaware Opportunities, an organization that has many facets. One of the services that stuck out to Allene is that Delaware Opportunities delivers meals to homebound adults and offers congregate dining for seniors who are able to travel and would like to enjoy a nutritious meal in good company. Cooper Cohen wrote about the International Cultures Club at Delaware Academy. The club began as a way for students to learn more about various cultures around the world that don’t often show up in educational material. The club intends to bring awareness about the diversity of culture around the world and in Delaware County. Read Cooper’s essay here.
As recipients of the Bridge Run Scholarship, each student and the organization or club of their choice received a cash stipend to further support their missions. Thanks to all of the participants in the Bridge Run, the volunteers, and sponsors for making this year another great success!
