Chamber Member Spotlight: Good Cheap Food

Good Cheap Food has been a staple in the community for decades, beginning as a buying club in a spare bedroom in 1976. The store moved around to a few locations in Delhi before settling into the storefront we all know and love. Good Cheap Food is a full-service whole foods and specialty foods store on Main Street in Delhi, NY, that provides local food and quality products to the community year round. Good Cheap Food is going to be open late on Fridays through the New Year for their holiday shopping event, Friday Night Lights. Each Friday, they will be open late and will have small bites available by donation to benefit The Backpack Program at Delaware Academy. Greentree Home is an eco-conscious, woman-owned company that was founded over 20 years ago in Treadwell, NY. The company, founded by Jenifer Green, produces and designs handmade beeswax candles. The candles are made in a variety of fantastic designs, with a lot of character and charm. Greentree Home Candle is hosting a holiday studio sale and market on November 30th, from 10am-4pm at their production facility in Treadwell. Shop Local for Thanksgiving!

Holiday season is fast approaching and it is time to show love for your local community and shop local! Beginning with a Thanksgiving feast, buy everything you need from local farmers, producers, farm stands, and locally owned stores. 

Where to start?
Delhi Farmers’ Market, which takes place every single Wednesday of the year from 10am-2pm, features local farmers and makers. Find meat, baked goods, produce, preserves, pies, honey, and everything in between. 

Farmer’s Wife Pies offers a wide variety of made-to-order pies. Call or email to place your order.

Good Cheap Food offers local meat, produce, cheese, and everything in between. You can order a farm fresh turkey for your Thanksgiving meal from Good Cheap Food. Orders need to be made by November 20th.

Strickland Hollow Tasting Room & Bottleshop sells New York State wine, beer, spirits, and more! They offer other special items such as tinned fish and mixers.

The Delaware County Historical Association was founded in 1945 to preserve and present the history of Delaware County. They continue this work today and offer a variety of events and workshops that shine light on the ever evolving culture of the area. Currently on display until Sunday, September 29th, is Quilts Along the Delaware, a show displaying quilts made by the Delaware County Town and Country Quilters. This family owned farm and orchard grows apples and pumpkins, and continues their ancestral family tradition by producing Maple Syrup on the 104-acre property. Maplewood goes all out with fall festivities including U-Pick Apples and Pumpkins, sap house tours, hayrides, games, and a festive fall shop with honey, cider, donuts, maple syrup and more. Steady Slope Fields & Forest is a place to stay, either camping, glamping, or in the suite, a place to sauna, and a place to come for events. A special opportunity for those local is the community sauna nights. On Mondays, there is a free communal gathering for women, and on Thursday, a gathering for men.
