Greater Delhi Chamber Awards First Annual Pellegrino Grant to Stone and Sawyer

Julian Peploe and David Ryan, founders of Stone and Sawyer, receiving the Pellegrino Grant.

Julian Peploe and David Ryan, founders of Stone and Sawyer, receiving the Pellegrino Grant.

We were thrilled to award our first annual Pellegrino Grant to Stone and Sawyer.

Having recently opened a showroom and studio at 76 Main Street in Delhi, the winning business applied for a grant that will be used for signage, lighting and seating at their brand new location which is a stunning shop right at the intersection as you enter Delhi.

Stone and Sawyer have been in the area for a few years but have only recently moved to Main Street where they are selling their hand crafted lamps and ceramics as well as products by other local artists and makers. They are showing various local artists and hosting opening receptions and events that encourage people to visit, shop, eat and spend time on Main Street.

The $500 grant, named after a beloved Board Member and extremely active member of the Greater Delhi Community, Jerry Pellegrino, was designed to be awarded to one deserving recipient each year. This is a matching grant with the sole purpose of encouraging the beautification of the Greater Delhi area.

Congratulations to Stone and Sawyer! We look forward to our next Pellegrino Grant season which we anticipate will be December 2016/January 2017. Please visit this site for updates and information.

Fond Farewell to Dr. Vancko

The Greater Delhi Chamber of Commerce was thrilled to host a networking mixer with the distinct honor of thanking Dr. Candance Vancko, outgoing SUNY Delhi President, as she prepares for retirement and leaving the Delhi area.

We honored Dr. Vancko by announcing our new grant program, aptly named the Vancko Grant. This grant will be awarded to the Greater Delhi area business that creates a program that will connect the business community to the SUNY Delhi student population. This award felt like the perfect way to thank Dr. Vancko for her years of service to the community and her commitment to bridge the businesses of the area to the the student, teaching and administrative population.

While we are very excited to meet the incoming President, we are very sad to say good bye to Dr. Vancko and wish her all the best in retirement.

This presentation to Dr. Vancko was followed by an evening of networking and making new friends. A big thank you to Cafe on the Green at the SUNY Golf Course for hosting us.

Supporting our Local Business Owners

When we heard about the impact the bridge repair was having on the business, the Chamber quickly rallied to produce a graphic to share through social media alerting people that Sheila's Sunny Dale Florist was still open for business.

The Greater Delhi Chamber of Commerce was thrilled to participate in Small Business Saturday. In conjunction with the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, we welcomed a re-opening of Sheila's Sunny Dale Florist.  With her business negatively impacted by a several month renovation of the Kingston Street Bridge, we gathered on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to welcome Sheila's back as we marked the end of the bridge repairs.

Sheila's is open, full of amazing festive arrangements for the holidays. Stop by and say hello to Sheila!

Fast forward a few months, we are thrilled to welcome Sheila's Sunny Dale Florist back to normal.
