Empowering Our Community from Seed to Supper

When it comes to practical knowledge, community support, and hands-on education in Delaware County, few organizations have the reach and impact of Cornell Cooperative Extension Delaware County (CCE Delaware County).

For decades, CCE has been a trusted resource for residents, businesses, farmers, families, and educators—offering programs that strengthen our local economy, support agriculture, promote healthy living, and connect people to the resources they need to thrive. Their work spans everything from youth development and nutrition education to agriculture, sustainability, and community resilience.

At its core, Cornell Cooperative Extension is about empowering people with knowledge they can actually use—skills that make a difference in everyday life.

This spring, one of their most accessible and impactful programs is returning: Seed to Supper.

Seed to Supper: Growing Confidence, Food, and Community

Seed to Supper is a free, four-part workshop series designed specifically for beginning gardeners or anyone looking to grow their own food in a simple, affordable way.

Hosted at the Stamford Library, this program walks participants through the entire process of starting and maintaining a successful garden—no prior experience required.

Whether you’ve been thinking about planting your first garden or want to improve what you’ve already started, this series breaks it down into manageable, practical steps.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will gain hands-on knowledge and guidance on:

  • Building healthy soil and creating your own garden beds

  • Designing a garden plan that works for your space and lifestyle

  • Understanding what to plant, when to plant it, and how to keep it thriving

  • Ongoing garden care and maintenance

  • Harvesting your crops and making the most of what you grow

The focus is on real-world application—helping you grow food successfully without overspending or overcomplicating the process.

Why It Matters

Programs like Seed to Supper go beyond gardening. They build confidence, promote self-sufficiency, and create stronger connections to the food we eat and the community we live in.

In a place like Delaware County—where land, seasons, and local resources are part of everyday life—this kind of knowledge is not only valuable, it’s empowering.
