As summer season begins to take shape across Delaware County, there’s no shortage of activity happening in and around the greater Delhi area. From arts and community events to public workshops and seasonal celebrations, the region continues to showcase the creativity, collaboration and small-town energy that make this area so special.
The local arts community continues to gain recognition and momentum following the recent success of Upstate Art Weekend, which welcomed visitors into artist studios and creative spaces across the region. New Chamber member GG Stankiewicz Studio was recently featured in The Reporter for her participation in the event and her unique handmade paper art created from locally harvested plants and natural materials.
As part of that continued momentum, GG Stankiewicz will also host “Art Wednesdays” open studio hours from 10 AM – 2 PM on select Wednesdays throughout the summer during the Delhi Farmers’ Market season.
The summer season also brings continued promotion of the greater Delhi area to visitors traveling throughout the region. The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce will once again have a billboard campaign running along Interstate 88 in Oneonta this summer, welcoming travelers and baseball families visiting the area and encouraging them to explore Delhi’s shops, restaurants, events and outdoor experiences. We’re excited to continue introducing new visitors to everything the Delhi area has to offer while supporting our local businesses during the busy summer months.
Coming up first on the calendar is a public celebration for the release of The Findery’s Issue 3 on Saturday, May 30 from 3–7 PM at Wayside Cider. The event will feature local snacks, creative conversation, community gathering and great cider as the region heads into summer.
On Monday, June 2, community members are invited to attend the Delhi Rotary Club Spring Social at Bushel Collective. The evening offers a chance to connect with neighbors, local leaders and community organizations in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This is being held the same evening as the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce Mixer at Steady Slope Strength.
The beloved Delhi Bridge Run returns on Saturday, June 6 for its 30th annual race through the heart of the Village of Delhi. The community-centered 5K begins and ends in Hoyt Park and continues to bring together runners, walkers, volunteers and supporters from throughout the region for a fun and energetic morning in Delaware County. Proceeds from the event support scholarships for graduating Delaware County seniors as well as local school and community organizations, continuing a tradition that has positively impacted local students for decades. The event has become one of Delhi’s signature early summer traditions and a great opportunity for visitors to experience the community while supporting a meaningful local cause.
Then on Saturday, June 7, Pink Street Festival returns to the area and organizers are currently seeking vendors for the event. The festival continues to grow as a colorful and community-centered celebration bringing together artists, musicians, makers and visitors from throughout the region.
Residents are also encouraged to participate in the Town and Village of Delhi Joint Comprehensive Plan Public Workshop taking place on Wednesday, June 10 at Bluestone at Scotch Mountain. The workshop will focus on the future vision, growth and planning priorities for the Delhi community and offers an important opportunity for public input.
As always, the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce encourages residents and visitors alike to support local businesses, attend community events and explore all that makes the greater Delhi area such a vibrant place to live, work and visit.
Be sure to check the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce events calendar regularly to stay updated on everything happening throughout the area over the coming weeks.
