Dr. Candace Vancko Grant Returns
The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the Dr. Candace Vancko Grant is launching for its second year. This matching grant program was created to help strengthen the connection between the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce business community and the population of SUNY Delhi.
The grant honors the dedicated service of the former SUNY Delhi President, Dr. Candace Vancko. Dr. Vancko served in the position for more than 15 years and was committed to bridging the businesses of the area to the student, faculty and staff population at the college.
The grant is an annual matching grant of up to $500 that the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce will award to a member business that is ready to invest into their business with the purpose of directly impacting the student population of SUNY Delhi. This can take many forms, such as adjusting inventory, adding an attraction, or offering a new service with the primary focus of better serving and connecting to the college population.
Grants will be judged by an impartial group that will be made up of two professionals from SUNY Delhi and two board members from the Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce. The Dr. Candace Vancko Committee is happy to help develop applicants’ ideas.
Delhi Area Events & Shopping Specials on Saturday, November 25th & Beyond
Small Business Saturday is a movement encouraging people to shop at small local businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. An alternative option to big-box chains and online retail giants, the powerful message of the holiday is to support local entrepreneurs and keep their brick and mortar businesses alive. By doing so, we help energize local economy, keeping it viable and beneficial to all.
We're so proud of all the unique small businesses here in the Greater Delhi Area. Through their work and efforts, we form our identity and pride.
While we strongly suggest that you shop small the entire year, we are putting our best foot forward with on Saturday, November 25th. We welcome you to come to the Greater Delhi Area to shop all day and enjoy the evening events at Stone and Sawyer and the Gallery at 56 Main Street.
Outdoors in Delhi: Go Hiking!

Experience the magic of the outdoors right here in Delhi! Hiking is free and simple to do, and great for any time of year. Hike our scenic trails and breathe in some fresh mountain air - there are many great hikes to choose from!
- Gribley Trail (3.08 miles)
Named after the beloved character in the children’s novel My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George, which was set near Delhi. The trail starts at the end of Sheldon Drive near the high school in Delhi. After a steep climb, the trail passes through varied vegetation, offering views of the village. It then proceeds west near the ridgeline of the mountain, then finally descending to meet the Bulldog Run Trail. Follow the Bulldog Run Trail to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Trailhead. - Bulldog Run Trail Loop (2.39 miles)
Named after Delaware Academy Central School’s mascot, the trail meanders the side of Federal Hill in an easy loop, starting and ending at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Trailhead. - Frightful’s Falls Trail (.36 miles)
Named after the falcon, a second character in My Side of the Mountain, this trail connects Bulldog Run to the Gribley Trail. - Bramley Mountain Trail (4 miles)
A moderate level trail leaving to the summit of Bramley mountain, where there are open views, a former fire tower, and an abandoned bluestone quarry. Impressive cliffs and caves line the footpath between the summit and the quarry. Access the trail by parking on Glen Burnie Rd, one mile south and uphill of its intersection with County Road 18, Delhi.
Delhi's Annual Harvest Festival Saturday, September 23rd
The tradition continues! Join us for the 33rd Annual Delhi Harvest Festival!
The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce (GDAC) is hosting the Delhi Harvest Festival on Saturday September 23rd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the help of the Catskill Ladies Association to Support & Inspire, CLASI The festival will take place at Delhi's Courthouse Square on Main Street in Delhi and will happen RAIN OR SHINE.
Well over 60 vendors will be selling wonderful items including all sorts of jewelry, handmade gifts, yarns, art work, handbags, baked treats, wooden items and much more. From noon until 4:00 p.m., the band Bluestone Country will perform in the bandstand for all to enjoy.

Pellegrino Grant for 2017 Announced-Deadline for Applications July 15th, 2017
The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the opening of the application process for the 2017 Pellegrino Grant. This grant will be awarded to a member business that is interested creating a project that directly impacts the beauty of the greater Delhi area.

Fair on the Square in Delhi

It's been an annual tradition for 44 years, and the Delhi Fair on the Square will return again this summer! Every Friday during the month of July, the community gathers together on Courthouse Square to enjoy live music in the gazebo, local vendors, kids' games, crafts, food, and each other. Join us for beautiful summer evenings on the Square!
The Fair on the Square is brought to you by the Delhi Fire Department, Delhi Kiwanis Club, Delhi Masons, Delhi Rotary Club, Delhi Women’s Club, and Knights of Columbus.

Delhi Farmers' Market Starts This Week
We love the warm weather because it means Farmers' Markets!
The Delhi Farmers' Market is a wonderful opportunity to connect with local farmers and producers. Shoppers can expect a wide array of products including fresh local produce, cheese, fresh baked goods, locally raised bedding plants and hanging baskets, locally produced crafts and maple products. Purchasing locally grown produce and products keeps more capital in the community and it is environmentally friendly since it was grown or produced within a drivable distance, reducing the amount of resources required for transport.
This year's market will have something for everyone.

Networking Event this Thursday in Delhi
Our goal as an organization is to be a resource to businesses in the region and we would love for you to utilize us as a resource and join us to help support the entire business community.
Next month, we are excited to host another networking mixer. Please join us at Tay Tea on Main Street in Delhi for an evening of community building with light snacks, tea, drinks and more. We're excited to use this meeting to kick off the Pellegrino Grant for 2017 and also talk about some of the great new things that we are planning for the rest of the year.
